Alaskans Should Know Where I Stand

It is my opinion Alaska's government has strayed from its core mission. It must refocus to better serve the people's interest. I recognize that through their constitution Alaskans have entrusted their governor with significant authority. If used correctly this authority can build consensus, provide leadership and give confidence to all Alaskans. The Governor must be willing to accept responsibility for his actions and be held accountable to the residents of Alaska. As your Governor, I will honor this basic and important principle.

We must conduct an on going open and honest dialog with our citizens and encourage their participation in the decisions that affect their lives. As Governor, I will act on a clearly stated set of objectives and will look to Alaskans to help me accomplish these goals. These objectives include:

To promote a vibrant economy and create good-paying jobs
To keep our communities safe.
To create a world-class effective and accountable education system for students of all ages.
To build and improve our transportation systems.
